Saxon Woods again

I just love the bands of late-afternoon sun through the trees. I must remember to come with my good camera soon!

In Saxon Woods with Holly, and although it looks like snow it's actually all the fluffy pollen and seeds from the trees- glad I'm not a hay-fever sufferer!

Saturday afternoon

Crispy scootering in the parking lot (much to Holly's amusement).

Purple Hair!

OMG- my son has purple hair!

Crispy got purple hair colour temporarily sprayed into his hair at the Midland Fair (while I was in Louisiana), and he liked it so much that Jackie said he could dye his hair semi-permanently for the last few weeks of school if he was good. And he has been really good- enough that his teacher emailed us to tell how great he has been!

So... here's Jackie applying the dye ("Amplified Manic Panic Purple Haze"!)-

Here it is being rinsed after setting for 45 minutes-

And here's the final result, not dry yet-

But outside you can really see it!-

Subtle- but it's definitely purple (and he's acolyting tomorrow!).

Saxon Woods

Path under the highway between the East & West sections.

Saxon Woods WEST

Crispy, Holly & I found the tunnel under the highway to the other section of Saxon Woods. We'll have to come back another day to explore (wearing bugspray!).

Sunday School

Crispy was the only kid in his Sunday School class today, and they were discussing the Gospel reading (John 15:9-17, "...As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you..."). So the teacher made a poster of who Jesus' friends are-

So Crispy made a picture of his friends, his pets-

Then he drew a picture of Yin & Yang and how they sleep (like Yin & Yang)-

And then he drew a regular Yin and Yang and started putting opposites on either side: life & death, joy & suffering, friends and enemies.

He told his teacher that you can't have one without the other- if you didn't have suffering you wouldn't recognise joy- but then he said he was going to put love and hate on there, but you can have love without hate so he didn't know where to put it.

His Sunday School teacher was pretty impressed with this- and so am I! Do you think he's going to grow up and be a priest, it does run in the family?

Saxon Woods is greening up nicely

We went exploring this time and ended up going the really long way round- we'll end up having covered about 4 1/2 miles by the time we get back to the truck!

The Fabulous Christ's Church Triptych

Now hangs on the wall in my office!

The triptych was done by Jodi Grogan for the silent auction at the outreach fundraiser on Saturday. I thought it was fabulous and said so, and then found that at the end of the auction Michelle & John Minks had bought it to give to me! Thanks!!!

Watching the outreach documentary on my super, high-tech, back-projection screen!

Let the bidding commence!

And the reception area all set up for the Silent Auction.

The calm before the storm

The parish hall all set up for the MJJ.

MJJ Setup

And another parishioner did this picture of the Rectory St entrance. My first impression on seeing it was that it was a shame he'd included the yellow crossing sign, but click on the picture to see it full size and take a closer look!

Setting up for the "Mint Julep Jump"

Our outreach fundraiser is this evening and one of the parishioners did this fabulous triptych of items from the church (it's one of the lanterns, the ceiling stencilling, the organ pipes, the thurible and the mosaic floor).
