Holly- a portrait

I think I have finally taken a picture that captures the true essence of
my dog!

We are back on our old standard route around Saxon Woods after a few days on the other side- and all of a sudden it's spring and all these green shoots have appeared!

FX shoot

And the trucks get ready to roll out of the parking lot.

FX shoot

Packing up, putting back the energy-saving lightbulbs they didn't like (they changed them all for regular bulbs for the shoot).

Rehearsing the ballerinas for the scene in the parish hall.

FX shoot

Fake sunshine outside the parish hall door.

FX shoot

Shooting in front of the church.

FX shoot

Setting up lights and cameras to shoot in the church.

FX shoot

It appears you need an awful lot of trucks to shoot a TV show!

We're ready for our close-up, Mr DeMille!

FX shoot day

Dressing the stage in the parish hall- the scene is for a school ballet recital.

Thank you Nintendo!

Nintendo included a sort-of pedometer in the newest Pokemon game that we got Crispy for his DS (for doing a great job in his show and getting a *great* report card). You transfer a Pokemon to it and then get points for how many steps it registers that you then transfer back to the DS, a great idea that makes it much easier to persuade him to come with me to walk the dog.

He's taken 3442 steps so far on this walk!

Saxon Woods

This one just looks like an angry giant smashed it down!

What a mess!

It's an absolutely georgeous day so Holly and I are doing the full outside loop of Saxon Woods N (in fact it's so nice I even put shorts on!).

But the devastation is worse on this side than where we usually go in the other side- there are trees down across the trail like this every 2 or 3 hundred yards, and lots have gone over like dominos: taking 2 or 3 (or sometimes more) other trees with them!

Still, it's pretty easy to go over or around them, and it makes the walk a little more interesting as you never know what you'll find around the next corner!

Oompa Loompas

Ready for their curtain call.

Jackie in charge!

She's very good at this!

Willy Wonka

The power of a Nintendo to keep this small group quiet!

Willy Wonka

Mrs Pisano gives a pre-show pep-talk to the whole of Cast A.

Willy Wonka

15 minutes to curtain (that's Crispy in the long coat- he looks like a young Dr Who).

Backstage at Willy Wonka

Well, it's the gym really.

Jake & I are supervising the crowd backstage for this performance- a cast of thousands (well, 112, but it feels like thousands!). We'll be in the audience tomorrow.

Here's Crispy in costume.

Lovely warm day in the woods

So where's Holly? In the stream with a stick of course!

Saxon Woods

This wasn't here yesterday!
Big storm last night- this is just one of many all over the woods and everywhere else. We are lucky that we didn't lose power, many in town did and still don't have it back.

Shelter Setup with the Confirmation Class

We found out none of them had ever seen "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade"- so we decided to show it while we set up for the shelter tonight. Then we can discuss the themes around the Holy Grail etc with them in class :)

At Midland

Chaos in the gym- the staging area for the dress rehearsal for "Willy Wonka".

There's always something to fix..

..replacing one of these ridiculously shaped windows that developed a large crack.

It's a Midland invasion!

All aboard!

We are bus #2- this should be a fun ride !?!

Off to NYC to see "Wicked" with the 5th grade. It'll be Crispy's first experience of a Broadway show- I'm very excited!

New Rose Window

The weather is finally cooperative so they can get back to work on our new "temporary" rose window.
