Wreath Making

I had my camera this evening, and I particularly like this picture of Colin and "Father Chappy"- and the one of a kid having a fully involved conversation with said muppet :)

Advent Wreath making

This is as it's winding down, we had a huge crowd here :)

Parish Hall...all done :)

From one angle-

And from the other-

It's beginning...

... to look a lot like it's time to decorate the parish hall :)

Guess who's feeling better?

I should know better than to take her to the vet so quickly. Oh well, it's only money;)

Babysitting at the Chapmans

Watching Star Wars with Jack and CJ having just put Natalie down... I'd forgotten how nice it is when a baby falls asleep on you :)

At the vet :(

Nothing serious, but Holly has been somewhat subdued for the last 24 hours or so so I just wanted to get her checked out. They've just taken her off to do a blood test (she's had a tick-borne blood infection before) and then we'll be on our way home. Unfortunately we won't have time for a walk before I have to head over to babysit for Jack and Natalie, but a day's rest will probably do her good anyway.

Funky tree

I pass this cool, old tree almost every day when I'm walking the dog, and before the hurricane I remember thinking that it would probably come down as it looks mostly dead. But it's still standing, and this afternoon it looked particularly distinctive against the cool, autumn sky :)

Life's a beach

We were going to head out to see if we could finally get into the woods, but Jackie came home and said the traffic on 95 (and everywhere else) was horrendous. So it's Rye Town Park again, but this time we snuck onto the beach :)

Another afternoon at the park

Tomorrow we will go and see if they will let us in to Saxon Woods, but for now it's quite nice for Holly to spend some time socialising with other dogs here (if I can get her attention away from her tennis ball for a few minutes!)

A small forest...

... of Christmas Trees ready to go on sale on December 1st :)

The Christmas Trees have arrived!

Just one or two... :)

Rye Town Park

Apparently Saxon Woods is now completely closed, so we've just come for a run in the park. Holly was very pleased to see me this morning when I picked her up from the kennels, so I don't think she minds too much :)

Ready to go

Gift Shop done and ready to hit the road- a fine time was had by all :)

Back in the arcade...

... then a quick stop at the gift shop (of course) and we'll be on our way.

Adult breakfast

After their quick shot of sugar the boys have headed off for a couple of hours in the water park, while Jake and I enjoy a more leisurely breakfast ;)

Sunday morning

Donuts and chocolate milk- the breakfast of champions!

Geek Squad

Sitting at the all-you-can-eat buffet listening to the boys have a heated discussion about which movies are better- the 3 Lord of the Rings movies or the "good" 3 Star Wars movies :)

Arcade time

It's very noisy with many flashing lights!

Taking a break...

... After 4 hours in the water park. Snacks, then the arcade, then the all-you-can-eat buffet :)

In the water park...

... first stop, the wave pool :)

Great Wolf

We have arrived :)

Delaware Water Gap

A quick stop for lunch at Mickey Ds, we should be there in 1/2 an hour :)

The Gang

Crisp and his buddies getting a last fix of the Internet before we get in the car and head off to Great Wolf ;)

Great Wolf weekend

Giving Holly a quick 15 minute run at the park before dropping her off at the kennels :(

We're only away one night, but because the kennels doesn't do drop off or pick up on Sundays she'll be there for 2 nights. Shell miss us, but she'll be fine.

Back from the CIA

Crispy went for a field trip today to the CIA (Culinary Institute of America), and they had to dress up a little and wear ties for their lunch in the Italian restaurant :)

Not the best birthday present

I had made an appointment for this afternoon for Crisp to have his flu shot, figuring that they would just use the nasal mist. Well, they did use the nasal mist for the flu shot, but when we got here we found he was also due for his Hep A and Gardasil shots, so he got a needle in each arm- I feel awful! (but he took it like a man!)

A teenager ?!?

Happy birthday to our amazing 13 year old son!

He is a constant joy and we are actually somewhat in awe of what we have created!

Really, this early?

When my clock-radio alarm went off at 6 this morning I was awoken to the dulcet strains of Bing Crosby singing Hark the Herald Angels Sing.

I know retail is hurting and they want to make the Christmas shopping season as long as possible, but come on people, carols on November 14th? This is ridiculous!

After Skyfall

At Applebee's for dinner after seeing Skyfall. Awesome movie! Daniel Craig may even surpass Connery as the best movie Bond.

Crispy now wants to see all the Bond movies (I wish I could recommend the books to him, but I reread a couple when Matt went through a Bond phase and I had not remembered how sexist and racist they are- he can read them as historic documents when he's older, but not now).

Watching "A Knight's Tale"...

Jackie: This movie is based on "The Canterbury Tales", have you heard of that?
CJ: I've heard of the Cadbury Bunny, is that similar?

Back at the park

As I'm not sure if access to the woods is open again yet, and I didn't want to drive all the way over there only to have to come back (we nearly got in trouble sneaking in yesterday, it's only Holly's adorableness that saved us- but that's another story...), so we're back in the park with a tennis ball. We'll try the woods again tomorrow ;)

Sunset...

... over the duck pond

And again...

... This time in panorama!

Late afternoon sun...

... on Playland Pier :)

At Rye Town Park

We drove all the way to Saxon Woods only to find the gate closed at the bottom of the hill and a security guard who wouldn't even let me park at the bottom and walk into the park- some twaddle about unsafe trees, weird when the park has been wide open for the last week!

So we had to drive back and we're here at Rye Beach with a tennis ball and a chuckit.  Oh well, hopefully we can get back into the woods tomorrow.

Oh interweb...

...welcome back!

I've missed you so, please don't ever leave me again!

Pretty in the snow

Sidewalks all cleared and ready- many thanks to those on the vestry who approved my purchase of the snow brush, and also the new, smooth sidewalks (and thanks to Colin for grabbing a shovel and helping this morning!).

Snow!

It's a bit early for this fun :)

Out with my lovely snow brush.
