All gone...

This is taken from the little spot between the cabin and the stream.

All that is left is sawdust and tire tracks

...and the lavatory trailer down on the lower trail.

Installing the air conditioning... the church ;)

Dismantling the cabin

And now they start to take everything apart- it'll be interesting to see how much evidence of their time here is left when they're done.

More filming

Lots of activity in the woods today, down by the fake cabin as well as these little "encampments" off in the trees. Supposedly this is about the last of it for this series.

It's been fun to watch, but I won't be sorry to get the woods back to ourselves and be able to park in our regular spots ;)

Last Sunday's Parish Picnic

I finally got around to editing the pictures from last Sunday's picnic. click on the picture to see the full album on Facebook :)

New sign on the Post Road

Here are a few more pictures of our new sign, taken using a 5 exposure HDR technique (using Photoshop & Lightroom this time, rather than Magic lantern that I used in the linked post, but the theory is the same)- just for the fun of it :)

We're finally official :)

The Church has been here for 319 years, so it only seems right that we should have a sign announcing our presence on the Boston Post Road... and we finally do :)

The only problem is that it looks so good the vestry now want more of the same on the other sides of our property, and Colin and I went through many hoops to get the permit for this one...!

This is why...

... You don't keep your passport in your safe deposit box.

About a week ago my small server that stores our family photographs (amongst other things) failed. Not a big deal as I have it backed up all over the place: on another hard drive at home, on the cloud, and on a small, portable hard drive in our safe deposit box.
That drive gets updated every three months or so, so once I had replaced the server and restored everything from my backups I retrieved it from the bank and added the last few month's worth of pictures.

This afternoon I went back to the bank to put it away again, but they can't open my box! I went home and got the second key , but that didn't work either. Apparently the lock has failed and they are going to have to get a locksmith to drill open the box- and because it contains my documents I have to be there when they do it... and they can't get a locksmith until Monday morning.

And that's why I don't keep our passports in our safe deposit box, I keep them in a small fire safe hidden at home. God forbid there was an emergency that required urgent travel!

Spring cleaning

The "oh my God, my parents are coming in less than 3 weeks" cleaning has begun :)

This morning I tackled my office at home- unfortunately a mouse had got into my bookshelves and so I had to take everything off and throw some away (I'm a book hoarder, I hate throwing away books). But it looks a lot better now, and I got rid of a bunch of other stuff as well as the books I had to get rid of.

Vegetable Gentleman

Crisp had to bring in a picture of a famous person for an art project at school- so he chose his grandfather.

Here is the original picture...

...and here is what it became :)

That's a wrap ;)

The filming is finished for now- but apparently they'll be back in a few weeks to do more, so they've wrapped up the cabin to protect it 'til then.

Test fitting the sign... make sure the posts are exactly the right distance apart before they pour the concrete.

Setting the posts...

...for the new sign :)

How does your Curate grow?

We're hoping for a bumper crop of little curates this fall!

These are actually the holes for our new sign on the Post Road side of the building.

The posts have been coated with tar and should be concreted in this afternoon.

Fanwood Prom Pictures

I spent last Friday night as the photographer for the New York School for the Deaf (Fanwood) prom- it's the school where Jackie teaches and they have a very small senior class. I had a blast but I've been spending almost all my free time since editing the pictures! I finally finished them last night and sent the disk to school with Jackie this morning :)

This was my set up for the portraits-

And here are a few of my favourites-

Ready for filming

The "cabin in the woods" film set I've been watching them build in Saxon Woods seems to be about ready and apparently they are starting to shoot there tomorrow. It's for a new HBO show called "The Leftovers" that premieres on June 29th.

Today when Holly and I were walking past there seemed to be no-one around so I took the opportunity to take a few closer pictures :)

I assume the platform next to the cabin is for cameras to track along
