Pipe Screams :)

Our concert of spooky music went off very well! Here are a few stills I took...

... and here are a few snippets of the music Ruaraidh played-

The smoke and lasers all worked very well- and a special thank you to my able assistant Igor Crispian :)

Rye Rec

My car is at the dealer in White Plains having the airbag light checked, so Holly's walk today is some heavy duty tennis ball chasing at the Rec. Unless of course I get the car back in time to go to the woods later, then she will get 2 walks :)

The disappearing mouse!

Tonight Crisp tried for the second time to feed Bill the Ball Python. This time with great success :)

We defrosted the mouse and then warmed its fur with a hairdryer, wiggled it around a little with the tongs to get him interested, and he obligingly grabbed it and did his thing.

He rolled around and constricted it and then swallowed it butt-first.

Here he is after about 20 minutes, the mouse is the lump in the middle of his body.

It's awesome that he ate on only the second try, I've read about people having real problems getting their snakes to eat when initially brought home- it would appear Crisp is doing something right and has a bit of a talent for reptile keeping.

Pipe Screams smoke and lasers

A couple more pictures as I start to set up the lights and effects for the Pipe Screams concert on Saturday...

And here is just a snippet of the full effect (well, without the thunder and lightning, and the dry ice, and the costumes...)...

I think this is going to be fun :)

A few more "Bill" pictures....

It's been a crazy, busy week so far- and no sign of slowing down through the weekend... so, for a moment of calm, here are some more pictures of Bill the Ball Python (who I have to say, I find absolutely fascinating!).

One interesting fact is that Holly was right there next to me while I was taking these, and either doesn't smell the snake or doesn't care. I've noticed this when we've come upon snakes on the trail in the woods- she doesn't seem to notice them and will run right over them. I did some research and apparently dogs can be trained to sniff out snakes, so they must have a smell; maybe Holly is just too mellow :)

Confirmation Retreat

We have arrived at Greenkill and have fed the hungry children :)

Confirmation Retreat

Getting ready to board the bus :)

Fall in the woods

I wish I wasn't quite so red/green color-blind.

I'm not a hoarder!

I've just been through my closet and pulled out 11 pairs of jeans, 7 pairs of shorts, and 2 pairs of dress pants that either don't fit, are worn out, or for some other reason will never be worn again... I feel so free :)

Next week... shirts and sweaters!

Hallowe'en test #1

Testing the lightning for our Hallowe'en concert...

Now I just need to get out the smoke machine and order a cooler-full of dry ice... :)

The naming of the snake

So, Crisp's Ball Python now has a name...

Now, bear with me, this is a bit involved...

His full name is "The Aptly Named Sir Not-appearing-in-this-film"

This is from Monty Python (get it?) and the Holy Grail. He's one of the characters in "The Book of the Film"... who is played (albeit briefly) by Michael Palin's son William.

So he will be known as "Bill" for short :)

Really Amazon?

So I'm researching storage sheds as we will need a new spot this winter to store ice melter, and Amazon throws this at me... I think this is a bit of a stretch- I sincerely doubt that many (if any) people think about buying a plastic shed and a FireTV stick together...!

Birthday dinner...

...at Dinosaur BBQ in Stamford :)

Yum! Thanks baby!

(I know it's dark in here, but boy the front camera of the Nexus 5 is lousy)

Crispy's new friend

So Crisp has acquired another new friend... a baby Ball Python that doesn't have a name yet. He's about a foot long and actually quite adorable- more pictures once he has a name and is a little more acclimatized to his new home :)

Fall 2015 in Saxon Woods

I had the afternoon off today, which meant that Holly and I could take our time in the woods. So I took my camera along...

Many leaves

Leaves detail in the sun

Dog and ball

Into the woods

Dappled sunshine

This is my favorite of the day- I like the composition and the lens flare

Noble beastie

A bit over-the-top, but I still like this one

Crisp's picture

Crisp has been really getting into his Digital Photography class. One of his assignments was to take a picture from an unexpected perspective, so he took a picture looking up the parish hall back staircase from ground level- and he took it with two different lighting setups and then combined them in Photoshop- kinda cool :)

Vermont pictures

So, having finally set up my new photo-editing workstation, I felt I could tackle some of the pictures I took in Vermont back in August.

Some are silly HDR shots, some are just holiday snaps, and some are just pictures I like... you can see the full album here :)

Circle Line

So now I have my new (old) computer set up for editing pictures -- my laptop was OK, it was just getting very slow, so I've taken an old desktop machine with a slightly faster processor, maxed out the RAM to 16GB, put in a fast SSD drive, upgraded it to Windows 10, installed Lightroom and moved over my catalog and the external drives with all my pictures. Along with the excellent IPS monitor Jackie got me a while back it will make a great photo-editing workstation... I've just got to resist the urge to bog it down with other stuff :)

Anyhow- here are some of the pics I took on the Circle Line cruise I took with Mum and Dad before they left...

I may have been a tad over-dramatic with some of the skies- it was rainy and overcast, but not tornado weather!

Now to finally get to some of those pictures I took in Vermont...
