Church pictures...

I am shooting a few extra pictures around the church for the Parish Profile that will go to prospective applicants to be the new Rector. Today we got the Queen Anne chalice from the safe and I shot a few pictures on its own, and then with Dorothee. And then I took a few more of a couple of the windows for good measure :)

First a quick check of the calibration of the focus of my lenses

Here's the set up with the lights

Given to the church by Queen Anne in 1706

Inscribed Anna Reginae

Made by the London silversmith William Gibson

And here's Dorothee to give it some context

She has small hands, but it is quite large

I think this is actually my favourite

And another few...
...of the main Tiffany window...
...in all its glory

And the oldest window, given for Sarah Bulkley who died in the sinking of the SS Ville du Havre in the middle of the Atlantic in 1873

Silly pictures...

...I'm trying to decide if I need to re-calibrate the focus on my lenses. I think it's pretty good, but I probably will anyway- coz it's one of those geeky things I actually really enjoy doing ;)

Easter Pictures

Above is one of my favourites of the pictures I took over Easter, it is of the reserved sacrament in our chapel on Good Friday morning... I just love the simplicity of it and the symbolism of the chandelier hovering over it like a crown.

You can see more of the church pictures I took here on the church website.

And you can see a Facebook Gallery (no need to be a member of FB to see it) of family pictures I took here- I was in a silly mood with my 70-200 :)

Let the games begin...

... we've reached the Cards Against Humanity portion of the party :)

Sunny, warm Sunday

The dam has mostly held, so Holly can have a nice dip on this unseasonably warm day, it's 79F!

Yeah...

...just a quiet Saturday ;)

The church is all put back together ready for the morning after another successful Vigil. Now to bed and we'll do it all again tomorrow :)

Happy Easter!

Easter Vigil

One of my favorite services of the year :)

You know it's been...

... a busy morning working with the Altar Guild when you hit 10,000 steps before 12:30 :)

Awesome!

So the fantastic news is that it would seem Governor Cuomo's budget has passed- including the Excelsior Scholarship plan for free tuition at SUNY & CUNY schools :)

They've added a stipulation that after graduation you must live and work in NY state for as long as you had the scholarship, but I don't think that's a lot to ask.

Lots of news stories about it-

My daughter is very clever to have applied and been accepted to SUNY Purchase for this fall :)

Spring Woods

After a couple of rainy days today is beautiful and sunny, so hopefully spring if really here. In honor of that, I took a few pictures in the woods today with the 5DmIII and the 24-105 :)

A few of last years leaves are still hanging on

The dam I built has held up nicely over the winter :)

Doggo :)

Early buds

She's found something nasty to roll in

Sunlight on runoff from yesterdays rain

Noble beastie

First dip of the spring- hopefully she's washed off whatever she rolled in

Another bud

Alert ears and new spring grasses

"Are you done taking pictures?"
